Constellation ordinaire # 11 (Après, la mer s’est evaporée), 2022
La Graineterie, Centre d’art contemporain, Houilles
Questions of balance are at the center of Constellation ordinaire #11 (Après, la mer s’est évaporée), meaning : Ordinary Constellation #11 (After, the sea evaporated), specially designed for the glass roofed gallery of La Graineterie, contemporary art center in Houilles, close to Paris. Made of about fifty natural sea sponges, with astonishing and multiple shapes, this labyrinthine and floating installation offers a space to cross or to observe from multiple points of view. A wet sponge holds by its weight a second sponge close to the glass ceiling. By its evaporation and it's loss of weight it will eventually mount and consequently descent it's "partner sponge", thus producing movement and a changing appearance of the sponges in the space.
