The Amazonian rivers are regularly crisscrossed by huge barges that transport tons of soybeans from the plantations resulting from massive deforestation in the south to the Amazon River and the ocean in the north. The soybeans are then sent to China and Europe to feed cattle or to produce "bio-fuel".
