Constellation ordinaire #4 (le balancier), 2015 |
Steel, brass, aluminum, maple, birch, beech, 112 x 86 cm Photos: © Yann Haeberlin "From the change of visual aspect or tilting, there is only one step, which Jan Kopp proposes to the visitor to cross by means of a sculpture (edition of 5) to be put in movement. The installation Ordinary Constellation #4, composed of a seesaw whose long stem rises from a wooden stool - a discreet nod to the base of Marcel Duchamp's famous bicycle wheel - allows the visitor to experience gravity and the search for a point of balance. On the horizontal axis of each balance align circular weights of different size, density and color that the spectator can freely move forward or backward to stabilize the sculpture. A kinetic work, Jan Kopp's pendulum is also reminiscent of certain Suprematist compositions through its slender silhouette and geometry." |
